Airs Monday, January 2, at 11 a.m. This week on the next concert from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Donald Runnicles conducts and is joined by pianist Stephen Hough who performs the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1. The concert also features Euphonic Blues by Nancy Galbraith and orchestral highlights from Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelungen. Airs Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m. On this week's broadcast concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony music director Manfred Honeck will be joined by soprano Simona Saturova, baritone Gregg Baker, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and narrator Christopher Hahn for an opera showcase featuring works by Wagner and Verdi including Richard Wagner’s Prelude to Act III from Lohengrin and Wagner’s “Siegfried’s Funeral March” from Gotterdammerung.

Airs, Saturday, May 31 at 12 noon. This week the Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Wagner's masterpiece Parsifal staring Paul Groves as Parsifal with Daveda Karanas as Kundry, Thomas Hampson as Amfortas, Kwangchul Youn as Gurnemanz, Tómas Tómasson as Klingsor, and Rúni Brattaberg as Titurel. Sir Andrew Davis conducts.

Airs Monday, March 24 at 11 a.m. Join us for a new season of concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra each Monday morning at 11 a.m. The open concert for the season features conductor Manfred Honeck who will be joined by pianist Lang Lang for the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Franz Listz as well as Chopin’s Etude No. 5, Op. 10. The concert will also showcase Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to “Forza del Destino;”  Felix Mendelssohn’s Scherzo from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream;”  Richard Wagner’s Overture to “Tannhauser;” Igor Stravinksy’s Danse Infernale from “The Firebird;” and Lu Wencheng’s “Autumn Moon on a Calm Lake.” Join us for a new season of concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony each Monday morning at 11 a.m. on Red River Radio.

Bill Beckett spoke with pianist Asiya Korepanova and Dr. Lester Senter Wilson, the Executive Director of the Wideman International Piano Competition about the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra’s concert on Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 pm in Riverview Theatre. The concert features Asiya Korepanova in the Burlekse by Richard Strauss and Twyla Robinson in the Four Last Songs of Richard Strauss as well as his tone poem Don Juan.
