On this week's broadcast by the LA Opera on the Air we present Giuseppe Verdi's Falstaff staring Roberto Frontali as Sir John Falstaff, Carmen Giannattasio as Alice Ford, Ekaterina Sadovnikova as Nannetta, and Juan Francisco Gatell as Fenton, with Ronnita Nicole Miller as Mistress Quickly, Robert Brubaker as Dr. Caius, Rodell Rosel as Bardolph, and Valentin Anikin as Pistol. The Los Angeles Opera Orchestra and Chorus are all under the direction of James Conlon with Chorus master Grant Gershon and stage direction from Lee Blakeley.

This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago they will perform Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss starring Sophie Koch as Octavian, Amanda Majeski as Marschallin, Christina Landshamer as Sophie, and Matthew Rose as Baron Ochs, with Martin Gantner as Faninal, Rene Barbera as A Singer, Megan Marino as Annia, and Rodell Rosel as Valzacchi. Michael Black is the chorus master, Marina Weber directs and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus is under the direction of Edward Gardner.

Airs Saturday, July 11, at 12 noon. On this week's broadcast from the Lyric Opera of Chicago the opera that has left audiences spellbound for over a century, Puccini's Tosca. A fiery Deva, the rebel artist and the sadistic police chief for who all Rome trembles. This production stars Tatiana Serjan as Tosca, Brian Jagde as Cavaradossi, and Evgeny Nikitin as Scarpia, with Richard Ollarsaba as Angelotti, Dale Travis as Sacristan, and Rodell Rosel as Spoletta. The production also features Bradley Smoak as Sciarrone, Annie Wagner as Shepherd, and Anthony Clark Evans as the Jailer. John Caird will lead the the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus along with the Chicago Children's Choir in this performance.

Airs Saturday, July 26 at 12 noon. In honor of Verdi’s 200th birthday, LA Opera presents a new production of the crowning glory of the composer’s magnificent career, his comic masterpiece Falstaff. LA Opera Music Director James Conlon, praised internationally for his mastery of Verdi, conducts this unabashed celebration of Merrie Olde England’s lusty days and bawdy nights, starring Italian baritone Roberto Frontali.
