The Alexandria Museum of Art is expanding its collection of Louisiana art. Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne will announce the transfer of state-owned art at a news conference Tuesday, June 16.

Almost 600 tour operators are converging on the Shreveport Convention Center for a three-day meeting that puts the tourist attractions in a dozen Southern states in the spotlight.

Delegates of the Travel South Showcase are meeting face-to-face with tourism officials and attraction promoters who give them their best pitch as to why they belong on their next tour.

The Louisiana Office of Tourism and Oxford American Magazine will sponsor a series of concerts and symposiums that showcase Louisiana’s musical heritage. The tour is called the Louisiana Soundtrack Experience, and it begins Feb. 23 at Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium. The program is titled, “From Elvis to Hank to Johnny: Celebrating 65 years of the Louisiana Hayride.” Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne said he will kick off the series in Shreveport.
