Airs Saturday, January 9, at 12 noon. The 2015-16 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, with American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role. This will be the first broadcast of Radvanovsky’s season-long quest to sing all three of the principal heroines in Donizetti’s “Tudor queens trilogy,” being presented in its entirety for the first time at the Met this season. In the first opera, Anna Bolena, Radvanovsky stars as the young Anne Boleyn, who struggles to hold onto the throne of England.

San Francisco Opera

Airs Saturday, September 6 at 12 noon. This week we join the San Francisco Opera Company for a performance of Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele featuring Ildar Abdrazakov in the title role with Ramon Vargas as Faust, Chuanyue Wang as Wagner, Luke Lazzaro as Aadm, Brook Broughton as Eve and Patricia Racette as Margherita. This performanc will also star Erin Johnson as Marta and Renee Rapier as Pantalis. Nicola Luisotti conducts the San Francisco Opera Orchestra & Chorus and Dianne Nicolini will be your host.

Airs Saturday, March 1 at 12 noon. The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Borodin’s operatic masterpiece Prince Igor. Ildar Abdrazakov stars as the title character, a 12th-century Russian ruler who went to war against the Polovtsian tribe. Gianandrea Noseda, an acclaimed interpreter of Russian music, conducts a new edition of the opera—left unfinished by Borodin at the time of his sudden death in 1887—which he and director Dmitri Tcherniakov created specially for the Met production. The cast also includes Ukrainian soprano Oksana Dyka in her network broadcast debut as Igor’s wife, Yaroslavna; Anita Rachvelishvili as the fiery Polovtsian princess Konchakovna; Russian tenor Sergey Semishkur in his network broadcast debut as Igor’s son, Vladimir; Mikhail Petrenko as Yaroslavna’s brother, Prince Galitsky; and Štefan Kocán as Khan Konchak, leader of the Polovtsian forces. Prince Igor will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
