Airs Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 12 noon. The 2017-18 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Il Trovatore. It stars soprano Jennifer Rowley as the noblewoman Leonora, mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili as the mysterious gypsy Azucena, tenor Yonghoon Lee as the troubadour Manrico, and baritone Quinn Kelsey as Manrico’s rival Count di Luna. Bass Štefan Kocán sings the role of Ferrando, and Marco Armiliato leads the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus in the performance.

Airs Saturday, February 13, at 12 p.m. The 2015-16 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Il Trovatore, starring soprano Angela Meade as the noblewoman Leonora and tenor Marcello Giordani in the title role of the troubadour Manrico. Mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick sings her signature role of the mysterious gypsy Azucena, with Spanish baritone Juan Jesús Rodríguez making his Met broadcast debut as the Count di Luna, Manrico’s rival, and bass Kwangchul Youn as Ferrando, the captain of the guard.

This week on the Lyric Opera of Chicago we present Verdi's Il Trovatore featuring Andrea Silvestrelli as Ferrando; J’nai Bridges as Inez; Amber Wagner as Leonora; and Quinn Kelsey as Count Di Luna. This production also features Yonghoon Lee in the roll of Manrico, with Stephanie Blythe as Azucena; Kenneth Nichols as An Old Gypsy; Timothy Bradley as A Messenger; and Jonathan Johnson as Ruiz. Asher Fisch will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus and Suzanne Nance will host with guest commentator Roger Pines.

Airs Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m. On this week's broadcast concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony music director Manfred Honeck will be joined by soprano Simona Saturova, baritone Gregg Baker, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and narrator Christopher Hahn for an opera showcase featuring works by Wagner and Verdi including Richard Wagner’s Prelude to Act III from Lohengrin and Wagner’s “Siegfried’s Funeral March” from Gotterdammerung.

The cast features soprano Patricia Racette as Leonora, the noblewoman loved by two men; mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe as the haunted gypsy Azucena; tenor Marco Berti in the title role of the troubadour Manrico; and baritone Alexey Markov as the jealous Count di Luna. Daniele Callegari conducts. Il Trovatore will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday, January 12.
