This week The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner starring Johan Botha in the title role and Amber Wagner as Elisabeth, with Michaela Schuster as Venus, Gerald Finley as Wolfram, and John Relyea as Landgraf. Sir Andrew Davis leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus with Stage Direction from Tim Albery and our chorus master is Michael Black.

The 2016-17 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with the network premiere of Rossini’s Guillaume Tell, heard in a performance from November 2016. Gerald Finley stars in the title role of the legendary Swiss patriot William Tell, which he has made a specialty of in recent seasons, with Marina Rebeka as the Austrian princess Mathilde, and Bryan Hymel as her suitor Arnold. The performance was led by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi.

Airs Saturday, June 20, at 12 noon. This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago we present Richard Wagner's Tannhäuser, starring Johan Botha as Tannhäuser and Amber Wagner as  Elisabeth, with Michaela Schuster as Venus, Gerald Finley as Wolfram, and John Relyea as Landgraf. Sir Andrew Davis conducts the Lyric Opera orchestra and chorus. Suzanne Nance will host and is joined by guest commentator Roger Pines.
