It stars Sonya Yoncheva as Luisa, and Piotr Beczala as Rodolfo, the lover she is forced to betray. Both artists make role debuts in this production. Singing Luisa’s father, Miller, Plácido Domingo also adds a new role to his repertoire – the 149th of his legendary career.

The 2016-17 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Verdi’s Nabucco, conducted by Met Music Director Emeritus James Levine, with Plácido Domingo in a network role debut as the title character, the King of Babylon. The legendary duo has worked together many times over the past four decades, but this season marks the first time they have collaborated on Nabucco. Liudmyla Monastyrska sings the ambitious Abigaille, who is determined to seize control of the Babylonian empire.

This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago they will perform Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco featuring Zeljko Lucic in the title role with Tatiana Serjan as Abigaille, Dmitry Belosselskiy as Zaccaria, Elizabeth DeShong as Fenena, Sergey Skorokhodov as Ismaele, Stefan Szkafarowsky as the High Priest, Laura Wilde as Anna, and Jesse Donner as Abdallo. Michael Black serves as Chorus Master, Matthew Ozawa directs and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus are all under the direction of Carlo Rizzi.

Airs Saturday, April 4, at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s early opera Ernani. Met Music Director James Levine conducts his first company performances of the opera in more than 30 years, with Plácido Domingo as Carlo, King of Spain – a baritone part he has added to his vast repertoire this season. Italian tenor Francesco Meli sings the title role of the bandit Ernani, opposite American soprano Angela Meade in one of her most acclaimed roles, Elvira, and Ukrainian bass Dmitry Belosselskiy is Silva, Ernani’s rival. Ernani will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 4.
