Aaron Diehl Trio

Airs Thursday, May 14, at 8 p.m. People who love jazz singing seem to always be hoping to discover the next Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan or Ella Fitzgerald. Until very recently, the only contemporary jazz singer who came close to matching these three giants is the extraordinary Dianne Reeves, that is, until the emergence of Cecile McLorin Salvant. At age 24, this astoundingly gifted singer has perfect pitch and enunciation, a playful sense of humor, a rich and varied tonal palette, and a supple sense of swing.

Airs Tuesday, December 31 at 8 p.m. Toast of the Nation 2013-14 will make New Year's Eve stops in Boston, Washington DC, New York, Chicago, Denver and the Monterey Jazz Festival!  Stand by to see the performers, but expect the likes of the Donald Harrison Quintet, Cecile McLorin Salvant and the Aaron Diehl Trio, Wynton Marsalis Septet reunion, Paquito D'Rivera String Quartet, Convergence with Special Guest Larry Goldings, and Bobby McFerrin's spirityouall (line-up to be confirmed within a few days).
