Jazz jam sessions are an old tradition that allow players to test their skills in front of an audience, usually playing well known standards yet ones that require a common vocabulary. In this episode, we listen to a 2013 late night jazz jam led by pianist Aaron Diehl and featuring such guests as Wycliffe Gordon, Terell Stafford, Walter Blanding Jr., David Wong and many others.

Every year or two we produce an original concert entitled "Piano Showdown", which brings together four pianists who have spent most of their careers playing jazz. This two part program was recorded at the 2012 Savannah Music Festival and features pianists Cedar Walton, Kenny Barron, Aaron Diehl and Kevin Bales.
