Airs Friday, January 18 at 9 p.m. Coming up on the next edition of the Caravan we’ll hear some new music from the Swedish Folk Duo First Aid Kit, a classic track from Victoria Williams' first solo release, some Native America music from R. Carlos Nakai and a taste of India as well. We’ll also hear some phenomenal blues from Chris Smither and Buddy Guy and we’ll feature a live concert from the SXSW festival featuring Andrew Bird. Then we’ll turn South with music from Nick Anis, Inkuyo, and Erin Corday. During our live set we’ll feature a session with Michael Garvin, a Shreveport native who’s returned home after many years in Nashville as a writer and producer. Michael has over 80 chart hits to his credit, with 30 in the Top 10, and 18 No. 1 hits, including George Benson’s “Never Give Up On A Good Thing” and “Waiting For Tonight,” which Jennifer Lopez took to the top. He’ll talk with Bill Beckett about his Louisiana roots, his Nashville career and touring, and the new directions he is taking with his music composition. Airs Fridays at 9:00 p.m. Red River Radio launches the “Caravan,” a new weekly program featuring a diverse selection of music with host Bill Beckett. Each week you'll hear music from around the globe in a mosaic designed to carry the listener along effortlessly. The first hour will feature a broad mix with certain recurring themes such as Blues at the Bottom, From the Edge, or a Return to the Vinyl Frontier. The second hour of “Caravan” will feature live concert material from around the country and world, including locally-produced concerts recorded in our new studios or recorded at venues around our listening region. The third hour is designed to be a seamless and quite moody tapestry called “Be Quiet and Play the Music,” a 52:00 minute segment of music without breaks. Underlying the music is a sort of hidden theme that only Bill knows and he's not telling, so you can approach the hour and let it affect you in your own unique way. Tune in Fridays at 9:00 p.m. for a new and very unique listening experience. Bill has a vast library of music and a deep love of all genres’ from Indian Raga's and Delta Blues to Classical, Jazz, Folk, Rock, Alternative, World and more.
