A HOLIDAY TRADITION - On the weekend before Christmas.. there’s a tradition among many families to pile everyone  in the car and drive to see areas that are lit up with Christmas lights.  One such place is Marshall, Texas…" Rachel Skowronek  is  with The City of Marshall,Texas  Convention and Visitors Bureau and she tells us about the city’s  annual “Wonderland of Lights”   and it’s special attractions.

This is our 31st year, so it's been a long-standing tradition in Marshall for so many people," explained Rachel. "This is a fun-filled weekend, it's Santa's last weekend with us in Marshall,  but we've got two trackless trains that go on. Of course the courthouse is beautifully lit,  we've got ice-skating, carousel, carriage rides...it just goes on , and on. "One thing that's different that people may not be familiar with at this year's Wonderland of lights is a second trackless train and a new holiday display. "We have a 'Holly-Trolley' that explores a different side of downtown Marshall," explained Rachel " and we have 'Frosty's Wonderland' which is an activity area for children 10 and under."

And while you could visit Marshall any time of the day,  the  most magical time to see it is after the sun goes down.  Rachel said "Our activities hours on the weekend start at 4pm and run until 10pm.  And on Friday we'll be 6 to 9pm at night."  Restaurants and stores will also be open at those times for visitors to have dinner or a warm beverage.    There's no fee to come downtown and look at the lights but there are fees for different attractions.
