CFNLA Facebook

HELPING OTHERS - The Community Foundation of North Louisiana released  its Annual Report for 2017 yesterday and also announced  grants to  local and regional non-profit agencies involved with education, healthcare, arts and cultural programs, those were just a few of the service categories .  The event took place yesterday at the Strand Theater. Kristi Gustavson, Executive Director explained the focus of the foundation.

"Our goal is to respond to the needs of the community, better the community, highlight the great work going on in the community that community members may not know," said Gustavson. "And also, we can't shy away from the things in the community that are negative. It's our job to help shine the light on those things. and work with our non-profit community partners to make those things better."

Gustavson took a moment to explain the Community Foundation of North Louisiana's upcoming "Give For Good" campaign; a special 24-hour event where anyone can participate in the spirit of philanthropy at any contribution level.

"Give For Good is Tuesday, May 1st.  What it is, is a 24-hour  giving challenge to the entire community. And every non-profit that applies to participate can participate.," explained Gustavson. "And they are all on the website: Give For Good. And you can actually give to multiple organizations if you want to.  And what we really want to do is not only get the support of those folks who are already big philanthropists, but engage the entire community in philanthropy so even if you can only give $10 or $15 dollars, we want you to give your $10 or $15 dollars because if you and a hundred other people give their $10 or $15 dollars it's really meaningful to all the participating non-profits."
