MORE CUTS TO HIGHER ED - Louisiana Governor and Democrat John Bel Edwards announced today that he will propose $18 million in cuts to state colleges and universities as part of a package to address the more than $300 million gap in the budget.  This plan reveals the cuts represent 2% of college state financing. Louisiana colleges and universities have had to endure budget cuts for the past several years thanks to the state's budget deficit which grew during former Governor and Republican Bobby Jindal's administration.
