A self-taught art quilter will be featured at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. Jeanelle McCall of Lufkin draws inspiration from her garden, and her palette of colorful fabric scraps originates in her clothes closet. Her quilts are currently on display at the Museum of East Texas in Lufkin.
A new wedding resource center in Bossier City compiles lists of local vendors for couples who are planning and budgeting for their big day. Kay Loftin, owner of Our Wedding Library, says her resource center is free to brides and based on ones she's visited in California.
There's barely a seat open in LSU Health Shreveport's School of Allied Health Professions. A new class has begun course work in programs like occupational therapy, physical therapy and physician assistant. Enrollment in some allied health programs has doubled in recent years.
The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport is mounting a reprise of its "Remember When" exhibit it launched last summer. This year, the memorabilia includes Shreveport and Bossier City. The exhibit opens June 16 and runs through July 28.
