SFA students fine-tune annual film project

Spring semester begins Monday at Stephen F. Austin State University, and at many other colleges in the region. Some students have spent their holiday break fine-tuning a film that will premiere in April. SFA music lecturer Herbert Midgley wrote the sci-fi film, “The Rise of the Robots.” He’s currently assisting students in the cinematography program on post-production. He says more than 100 students have had a hand in producing the feature-length film.

SFA alums to tell Texas stories in PBS series

Husband and wife videographers based in Fort Worth, Carl and Betsy Crum, are producing a documentary series for Texas PBS stations. “One Square Mile: Texas" will focus on nine miles in Texas to reveal the state's diversity of people and landscapes through first-person stories. Betsy Crum said they’ll traverse the Lone Star State to uncover the stories for the first five episodes in the TV series.

SFA conference to highlight U.S., Middle East relations

Stephen F. Austin State University will bring together Middle East scholars, analysts and journalists for a two-day conference in Houston. The conference will focus on the future relationship between the United States and the Middle East. The goal is to develop some policy recommendations that can be forwarded to the U.S. State Department and policy institutes. The conference will be held Oct. 18-19 at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston. It's free and open to the public.
