Airs Saturday, December 12, at 12 noon. The 2015-16 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a broadcast of Verdi’s timeless tragedy Rigoletto. The acclaimed young American soprano Nadine Sierra makes her Met broadcast debut as Rigoletto’s innocent daughter Gilda. Željko Lučić is Rigoletto, who tries to shelter her from the evils of his world; and Piotr Beczala is the licentious Duke.

Airs Saturday, December 7 at 12 noon. The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season begins with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Rigoletto, starring baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky in his first company performances of the title role. Tenor Matthew Polenzani co-stars as the Duke, and two artists make their network broadcast debuts: Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva, who sings Gilda, and Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado.

Airs Saturday, June 29 at 12 noon  Join the Lyric Opera of Chicago for Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto (in Italian) featuring Zelko Lucic as Rigoletto with Albina Shagimuratova as Gilda, Giuseppe Filianoti as Duke, Andrea Silvestrell as Sparafucile, and Nicole Piccolomini in the role of Maddalena. Stephen Barlow directs and Evan Rogister conducts this performance.

Airs Saturday, February 16 at 12 noon. The 2012-13 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Verdi’s Rigoletto. Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer’s new production moves the opera’s tragic events from a decadent 16th-century Italian court to the glitzy, depraved setting of Las Vegas circa 1960. Serbian baritone Željko Lučić sings the title character, here a world-weary comedian. German soprano Diana Damrau is Gilda, Rigoletto’s innocent daughter. And Polish tenor Piotr Beczala sings the Duke, portrayed as an amoral lounge singer. Slovakian bass Štefan Kocán is the assassin-for-hire Sparafucile, and Belarussian mezzo-soprano Oksana Volkova makes her network broadcast debut as his seductive sister, Maddalena. Italian conductor Michele Mariotti, who made his Met debut earlier this season, conducts his first company performances of the Verdi masterwork. Rigoletto will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 16.
