President Obama Addresses The Nation: Immigration Reform

Airs Tursday, Novemver 20 at 7 p.m. President Obama will address the nation from the White House tonight night at 7 p.m. CT.  He will unveil executive actions on immigration. Red River Radio and NPR News will provide live anchored special coverage hosted by Melissa Block that will include the President's speech and analysis.  Melissa will be joined in studio by Political Correspondent, Mara Liasson; White House Correspondent, Tamara Keith; Senior Washington Editor, Ron Elving; Congressional Reporter, Juana Summers and National Correspondent,  John Burnett will join our coverage from Texas.

Ebola 101: A Free Public Forum on Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m., at Sci-Port

Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. With the first case on American soil emerging in Dallas, Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center is partnering with LSU Health Shreveport and Red River Radio to present a free public forum on Ebola at Sci-Port's IMAX Dome Theatre. The one-hour Ebola 101 Forum is set for Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m.

Red River Radio's Kate Archer Kent will moderate  a panel of experts featuring Dr. Martha M. Whyte, director of Region 7 Office of Public Health; Gerald A. Capraro, Ph.D., director of the clinical microbiology and diagnostic virology laboratory at LSU Health Shreveport; and Dr. John A. Vanchiere, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at LSU Health Shreveport.

Gary Borders: Sound of silence gives me one for the bucket list

I walk three-and-a-half miles every morning, accompanied by Sam, our dimwitted but lovable poodle mix.

The alarm goes off at 5:30. I jump up and get out the door in 15 minutes, a half-cup of coffee and a large swig  of Diet Coke in my gullet to jumpstart my brain. I know that sounds gross, but it works for me.

I listen to Red River Radio on my iPhone while I walk to get a headstart on the news. Except for the other morning. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn’t make it work. I then tried pulling in KUT, the Austin

New Additions To The Family

Alistair and Hugo Kent (L & R)

Congratulations to Kate Archer Kent and Alexandyr Kent on their new arrivals to the family.  Alistair and Hugo Kent made their landing on Wednesday, May 7, with Alistair weighing in at 6 lbs. 2 oz. and Hugo weighing in at 6 lbs. 7 oz. Obviously, Kate will be covering an entirely different set of news stories for the next several months as new arrivals make news daily. Please join all of us at Red River Radio as we congratulate Kate and Alexandyr on these adorable new additions to the family.
