This week the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus are featured in Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia Di Lammermoor, staring Nadine Sierra in the title roll with Piotr Beczala as Edgardo, Brian Mulligan as Enrico, and Nicolas Testé as Raimondo. This performance also features Zanda Švēde as Alisa, AJ Glueckert as Normanno, and Chong Wang as Arturo. The San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus are under the direction of Nicola Luisotti with stage direction from Michael Cavanagh and Ian Robertson as chorus master.

Airs Saturday, December 12, at 12 noon. The 2015-16 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a broadcast of Verdi’s timeless tragedy Rigoletto. The acclaimed young American soprano Nadine Sierra makes her Met broadcast debut as Rigoletto’s innocent daughter Gilda. Željko Lučić is Rigoletto, who tries to shelter her from the evils of his world; and Piotr Beczala is the licentious Duke.

The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of a new double bill:  Tchaikovsky’s romantic fairy tale Iolanta, with soprano Anna Netrebko in the title role of a blind princess, tenor Piotr Beczala as Vaudémont, a knight who falls in love with her, and baritone Aleksei Markov as Robert, her fiancé; and Bartók’s harrowing Bluebeard’s Castle, with soprano Nadja Michael as a bride who discovers the terrifying truth about her new husband, sung by bass Mikhail Petrenko. Valery Gergiev conducts both operas. This production, by Mariusz Trelinski, marks the company premiere of Iolanta, Tchaikovsky’s final opera, as well as the Met’s first-ever staged performances of Bluebeard’s Castle in its original Hungarian. Iolanta/ Bluebeard’s Castle will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 14.

Airs Saturday, February 8 at 12 noon.   The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Dvořák’s lyrical fairy tale Rusalka, starring Renée Fleming in one of her signature roles. Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads the cast that also includes Piotr Beczala as the Prince, Dolora Zajick as the witch Ježibaba, Emily Magee in her network broadcast debut as the Foreign Princess, and John Relyea as Rusalka’s father, the Water Gnome. Rusalka will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.

Airs Saturday, January 18 at 12 noon. The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.  Valery Gergiev conducts the performance, which features soprano Anna Netrebko as the naive heroine Tatiana, baritone Mariusz Kwiecien as the aristocratic title character, and tenor Piotr Beczala as the poet Lenski. Mezzo-soprano Oksana Volkova sings the role of Tatiana’s sister, Olga, and Alexei Tanovitski sings Prince Gremin. This cast opened the Met season with this new production last fall. Eugene Onegin will be heard over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
