The new online animated short commercial for Chipotle Mexican Grill has gone viral -- more than 5 million YouTube views and counting. It has Shreveport creative firm Moonbot Studios to thank. Moonbot partner Brandon Oldenburg is surprised by how many people have checked it out.

“We’re abashed. We’re amazed by watching these numbers go up as far as the amount of views," Oldenburg said, during an interview at Moonbot's Shreveport office.

A Gothic adventure video game is under development by Oscar-winning Moonbot Studios in Shreveport. Company officials have launched an online crowd-sourcing fundraiser through Kickstarter. They aim to raise $750,000, along with grassroots buzz from gamers. The game, “The Golem,” will be created entirely in-house by Moonbot’s 50 employees. At a Monday news conference, principal Brandon Oldenburg said the project was on the back burner for a couple years.

Shreveport-based Moonbot Studios participated in a panel discussion at the world's largest gaming trade fair, Gamescom, held in Cologne, Germany, earlier this month. Moonbot's creative director Adam Volker debated with fellow panelists on whether games are art. He says Moonbot aims to carve out an interactive storytelling niche in the vast gaming industry as it works on a Sony Wonderbook game for the PlayStation 3. Diggs Nightcrawler is slated to be released sometime next year.

Reminiscent of an old-time ticker-tape parade, confetti rained down on Shreveport as hundreds of people lined several downtown blocks to celebrate Moonbot Studios' Academy Award.
