The concert also celebrates the 65th Anniversary of the Wideman Piano Competition. Guest pianists Stanislav Khristenko and Tomer Gewirtzman will each present a concerto and the concert concludes with the World Premiere of the Symphony No.

Aired Thursday, January 21, at 12 noon Kermit Poling spoke with pianist Stanislav Khristenko and Dr. Lester Senter Wilson, Executive Director of the Wideman International Piano Competition, about this weekend's 65th Anniversary Celebration of the Wideman Piano Competition. Saturday's concert features pianist Stanislav Khristenko in the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Shostakovich and then pianist Tomer Gewirtzman will perform the Piano Concerto in A minor by Grieg. The concert concludes with the world premiere of the Symphony No. 1 (“Shreveport Symphony”) by Kermit Poling.

Aired Friday, December 18, at 11 a.m. Kermit Poling spoke with Music Director Michael Butterman along with Doug LaBrecque who will be one of the featured stars for the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra's Holiday Pops: Stars on Stage concert. Aired Friday, November 20, at 11 a.m. Kermit Poling spoke with Music Director Michael Butterman and guest violinist William Hagen about the next concert by the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra featuring Mr. Hagen in the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto along with Haydn's Sinfonia concertante for oboe, bassoon, violin and cello with SSO players Matt Albert, violin; Ruth Drummond, cello; Theresa Zale Bridges, oboe; Ann Shoemaker, bassoon. Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 will round out the program.

Airs Friday, February 27, at 11 a.m. Kermit Poling spoke with Michael Butterman, music director and conductor of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra along with Nancy Smith, founder and artistic director for the Frequent Flyers Arial Dance Company. They will perform to the music of Paul Hayden and to Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring this Saturday, February 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Riverview Theatre. Other works on the concert are the world premier of Paul Hayden’s "In Plain Air," Schumann’s "Symphony No. 3 (Rhenish)," and "On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring" by Delius.
