Our opera season continues this summer with a new season from the Lyric Opera of Chicago, opening the broadcast season with Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice, starring Dmitry Korchak as Orphée and Andriana Chuchman as Eurydice, with Lauren Snouffer as Amour. This production is conducted by Harry Bicket who leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus. John Neumeier is the stage director and Michael Black is the chorus master.

Airs Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 12 noon. This week The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner starring Johan Botha in the title role and Amber Wagner as Elisabeth, with Michaela Schuster as Venus, Gerald Finley as Wolfram, and John Relyea as Landgraf. Sir Andrew Davis leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus with Stage Direction from Tim Albery and our chorus master is Michael Black.

Airs Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 12 noon. This week The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin starring Mariusz Kwiecień as Eugene Onegin; Ana María Martínez as Tatyana; Charles Castronovo as Lensky; Alisa Kolosova as Olga; Katharine Goeldner as Mme. Larina; and Jill Grove as Filipyevna. Robert Carsen directs, Michael Black is the Chorus Master, and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus are under the direction of Alejo Pérez.

This week The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Georges Bizet's Carmen starring Anita Rachvelishvili as Carmen and Brandon Jovanovich as Don José, with Eleonora Buratto as Micaëla, Christian Van Horn as Escamillo, and Bradley Smoak as Zuniga. Rob Ashford is our director, Michael Black is Chorus master and the Lyric Opera Orchestra & Chorus are under the direction of Ainars Rubikis.
