The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with the live network premiere of La Donna del Lago, Rossini's opera about romantic and political upheaval in 16th-century Scotland.  The virtuoso cast is led by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato in the title role of Elena, the "Lady of the Lake," and tenor Juan Diego Flórez as King James V, who falls in love with her. Mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona sings the role of Elena’s beloved Malcolm, and tenor John Osborn is the King's sworn enemy, the highland chief Rodrigo, to whom Elena is betrothed.  The acclaimed young bel canto maestro Michele Mariotti conducts. La Donna del Lago will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 14.

The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Bizet’s Carmen, starring Elīna Garanča as the gypsy seductress and Jonas Kaufmann as her jealous lover, Don José. American soprano Ailyn Pérez and Hungarian bass Gábor Bretz make their network broadcast debuts as the country girl Micaëla and the toreador Escamillo, and Louis Langrée conducts. Carmen will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 7.

Airs Saturday, February 14, at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of a new double bill:  Tchaikovsky’s romantic fairy tale Iolanta, with soprano Anna Netrebko in the title role of a blind princess, tenor Piotr Beczala as Vaudémont, a knight who falls in love with her, and baritone Aleksei Markov as Robert, her fiancé; and Bartók’s harrowing Bluebeard’s Castle, with soprano Nadja Michael as a bride who discovers the terrifying truth about her new husband, sung by bass Mikhail Petrenko. Valery Gergiev conducts both operas. This production, by Mariusz Trelinski, marks the company premiere of Iolanta, Tchaikovsky’s final opera, as well as the Met’s first-ever staged performances of Bluebeard’s Castle in its original Hungarian. Iolanta/ Bluebeard’s Castle will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 14.

Airs Saturday, February 7 at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Verdi’s Macbeth, heard in an archived performance from October 11, 2014. The broadcast, taped live in the fall, features soprano Anna Netrebko, who was making her first Met appearances as the ruthless Lady Macbeth, opposite baritone Željko Lučić in the title role, bass René Pape as Banquo, and tenor Joseph Calleja as Macduff. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi led the performance. Macbeth will be heard over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 7.

Airs Saturday, January 31 at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, starring Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, who is singing his first Met performances of the title role.
