Airs Monday, October 13 at 11 a.m. This week on the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Manfred Honeck leads the orchestra and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh along with soprano Lisette Oropesa, tenor Andrey Nemzer, and baritone Hugh Russell in Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana. John Stafford Smith’s “The Star Spangled Banner will open the show and we'll also hear Ludwig van Beethoven’s Overture to “Fidelio" as well as David Stock’s Symphony No. 6. Jim Cunningham will host the week's broadcast concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Airs Monday, August 25 at 11 a.m. On this week's broadcast concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra music director Manfred Honeck will be joined on stage by soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor, tenor Anthony Griffey, bass Alexander Vinogradov and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh for a performance that opens with Christopher Theofanidis’ “The Gift" and concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
Airs Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m. On this week's broadcast concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony music director Manfred Honeck will be joined by soprano Simona Saturova, baritone Gregg Baker, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and narrator Christopher Hahn for an opera showcase featuring works by Wagner and Verdi including Richard Wagner’s Prelude to Act III from Lohengrin and Wagner’s “Siegfried’s Funeral March” from Gotterdammerung.
Airs Monday, April 28 at 11 a.m. Mariss Jansons takes the podium for the next concert by the Pittsburgh symphony and will be joined by soprano Alessandra Marc, mezzo-soprano Elena Zaremba, tenor Rafael Rojas, bass Dimitri Kavrakos and the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh for Giuseppe Verdi’s Ave Maria and Verdi's Requiem. Also on the concert Verdi's String Quartet in E minor.
