Airs Saturday, December 6 at 12 noon. The Metropolitan Opera’s 2014-15 season of live Saturday matinee radio broadcasts begins with Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia – The Barber of Seville. The comedy stars mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as the feisty Rosina; tenor Lawrence Brownlee as the lovestruck Count Almaviva; and baritone Christopher Maltman in his first Met appearances in the title role of the resourceful barber Figaro. Michele Mariotti conducts the performance, which also features Maurizio Muraro as Dr. Bartolo and Paata Burchuladze as Don Basilio.

The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Mozart’s comic opera Così fan tutte, conducted by Met Music Director James Levine. It features an ensemble cast: Susanna Phillips as Fiordiligi, Isabel Leonard as her sister Dorabella, Danielle de Niese as their feisty maid, Despina, Matthew Polenzani as Ferrando, Rodion Pogossov as Guglielmo, and Maurizio Muraro as the cynical Don Alfonso. Così fan tutte will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
