Bill to merge LSU Shreveport with Louisiana Tech advances

A bid to make LSU Shreveport a branch campus of Louisiana Tech University was backed by the House Education Committee. But acting LSU System president William Jenkins advised the committee to proceed "very cautiously" because mergers overwhelmingly result in failure. Supporters say the merger is essential to the region.

LSU Shreveport digital media certificate program seeks 60 students

LSU Shreveport animation and visual effects program director John Miralles says the new non-credit program in digital media will improve the high-tech labor market in Shreveport.

A $500,000 grant from the Caddo Parish Commission will establish a yearlong, non-credit certificate program in digital media at LSU Shreveport. Program director John Miralles says applicants must have completed high school will go through a rigorous evaluation process before being admitted to the 35-hour per week program taught by area industry professionals.
