Northwestern State University’s Louisiana Folklife Center is hosting a symposium Tuesday featuring six historical military re-enactors who will discuss the cultural significance of reenactment.

Natchitoches attorney Eddie Harrington is one of the speakers. He’s coordinating the Battle of Natchitoches this weekend where soldiers will clash on Front Street.

Bill Beckett speaks with Shane Rasmussen, Director of the  Louisiana Folklife Center along with Jennifer Karle, CEO at Cane River Children’s Services in Natchitoches and Angie Corville, the HR Manager for Cane River Children’s Services. They present a Multi-Cultural Christmas tonight, December 3rd at 7 p.m. in Treen Auditorium on the Campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Two noted Louisiana craftspeople and two of the state’s leading musicians will be inducted into the Louisiana Folklife Center’s Hall of Master Folk Artists Saturday as part of the Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival.

This year’s inductees include accordionist Geno Delafose, frontman for his band “French Rockin’ Boogie.” Delafose is a rancher near his hometown of Eunice. He is serving as honorary chairman of this year’s festival in its 34th year.
