LSU's College of Engineering Dean met with LSU Shreveport officials yesterday to work out a plan to offer two Flagship Campus baccalaureate degrees at LSUS in the fall: construction management and petroleum engineering.
A Shreveport science teacher is canoeing more than 370 miles to the Gulf of Mexico to raise awareness about Louisiana's watersheds. Jon Soul will give a presentation tonight titled "Bayou to Bay - Exploring Louisiana's Watersheds" at 6:30 p.m. at the Red River National Wildlife Refuge hosted by the Friends of the Refuge.
Former President Bill Clinton spoke at El Dorado High School's sixth annual Academic Signing Day. The ceremony recognized El Dorado-based Murphy Oil's $50 million scholarship fund, and more than 300 seniors who will take advantage of the generous tuition scholarship. The scholarship director says over the past five years, the Promise Fund has paid out $8.5 million in tuition costs for nearly 1,000 El Dorado High School graduates.
The drilling term "frack" could use an image makeover, according to a new study by the LSU Public Policy Research Lab. Research Michael Climek says the word "fracking" significantly impacted how survey respondents viewed the process, both in terms of safety and whether the state should encourage it.
