Scientific balloons regularly launch from Palestine, Texas

The Louisiana Aerospace Catalyst Experiences for Students (LaACES) program releases a scientific balloon at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Palestine, Texas.

Palestine, Texas, is home to NASA's Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility. Universities across Louisiana collaborate on scientific balloon experiments and launch their payloads at Palestine. LSU physics professor Greg Guzik is currently waiting for optimal weather conditions in Palestine to further his own research in high energy astrophysics.

La. politicians and musicians converge in Shreveport for birthday bash

The All-Star Bicentennial Birthday Bash is set for Wednesday at Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport. The evening includes a screening of the Louisiana Public Broadcasting film "Louisiana: 200 Years of Statehood," at 7 p.m. The Louisiana Hayride Jam begins at 8 p.m. The festivities are free and open to the public.

Block grant program forum slated for Shreveport

Louisiana’s health department is hosting forums around the state to inform people about the addictive disorder treatment programs available in their communities. The one in Shreveport for Region 7 Behavioral Health is set for June 21 from noon to 2 p.m. at Brentwood Hospital's gymnasium.

Stormy Weather

Storms passed through Shreveport yesterday causing an outage at the station around 6:15 p.m.  Throughout the night SWEPCO repairs kept causing further outages, knocking us off air. We hope these repair glitches are over and will monitor throughout the day.

LSU Health Shreveport tracks growth trend in allied health professions

Joseph McCulloch is dean of LSU Health Shreveport's School of Allied Health Professions.

There's barely a seat open in LSU Health Shreveport's School of Allied Health Professions. A new class has begun course work in programs like occupational therapy, physical therapy and physician assistant. Enrollment in some allied health programs has doubled in recent years.
