My love affair with Red River Radio began in San Augustine, when Shreveport station KDAQ first went on the air in 1984. I was first exposed to National Public Radio while briefly attending graduate school at the University of Missouri, and then transferring to UT-Austin, where KUT became my constant listening companion. So I was overjoyed when KDAQ — the flagship of the network now known as Red River Radio — went on the air.

Airs Tuesday, November 4 at 7 p.m.  Control of the Senate is up for grabs in this midterm election and Red River Radio will bring you NPR election coverage Tuesday featuring local updates and analysis from political scientists in our region. We’ll hear from Jeffrey Sadow of LSU Shreveport, Greg Granger of Northwestern State, Paul Babbitt of Southern Arkansas University, and Ken Collier of Stephen F. Austin State.

Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. With the first case on American soil emerging in Dallas, Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center is partnering with LSU Health Shreveport and Red River Radio to present a free public forum on Ebola at Sci-Port's IMAX Dome Theatre. The one-hour Ebola 101 Forum is set for Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m.

Red River Radio's Kate Archer Kent will moderate  a panel of experts featuring Dr. Martha M. Whyte, director of Region 7 Office of Public Health; Gerald A. Capraro, Ph.D., director of the clinical microbiology and diagnostic virology laboratory at LSU Health Shreveport; and Dr. John A. Vanchiere, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at LSU Health Shreveport.

Sci-Port is located at 820 Clyde Fant Parkway, Shreveport, La., 71101. More information is at 318-424-3466.
