Air Monday, September 21, at 1 p.m. On this week's broadcast concert by the San Francisco Symphony, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will join Maestro James Conlon on stage for a performance of Piano Concerto No. 1 in C minor by Shostakovich. The concert opens with Schulhoff's Scherzo from Symphony No. 5 and concludes with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Opus 74, Pathétique. Then, from the archives, music director Michael Tilson Thomas will lead the orchestra in the Symphony No. 9 in E-flat major by Shostakovich. Rik Malone will host.

Airs Saturday, August 15, at 12 noon. This week from the LA Opera they conclude their Figaro Unbound series with a performance of John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles conducted by James Conlon and directed by Darko Tresnjack. This production stars Victoria Livengood as the Woman with Hat, Kristinn Sigmendsson as Louis XVI, Scott Scully as the Marquis, Patricia Racette as Marie Antoinette, and special guest artist Patti Lapone as Samira.

Airs Saturday, August 8, at 12 noon. On this week's production from the LA Opera, it's the second of three works that re-envision Figaro with The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Roberto Tagliavini stars as Figaro with Pretty Yende as Susanna, Ryan McKinny as Count Almaviva and Guanqun Yu as Countess Almaviva. Renee Rapier is Cherubino, Kristinn Sigmundsson appears as Doctor Bartolo, Lucy Schaufer is Marcellina, and Philip Cokorinos will play Antonio. James Conlon leads the LA Opera Orchestra and Chorus in this production directed by Ian Judge.

Opera on the Air and a production of Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece La Traviata staring Placido Domingo as Giorgio Germont, Nino Machaidza as Violetta Valery, and Arturo Chacon-Cruz as Alfredo Germont, with Peabody Southwell as Flora Bervoix, Brenton Ryan as Gastone, Daniel Mobbs as Baron Douphol, Daniel Armstrong as Marquis d’Obigny, Soloman Howard as Doctor Grenvil, and Vanessa Becerra in the role of Annina.

The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Shostakovich’s searing drama Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, heard in an archived performance from November. Eva-Maria Westbroek starred as the adulterous and murderous Katerina Ismailova, a role she has sung to acclaim at leading houses around the world. James Conlon conducted the performance, which also starred Brandon Jovanovich as Katerina’s lover, Sergei, and Anatoli Kotscherga as her brutal father-in-law, Boris.
