FORGOTTEN GATEWAY:   Whenever the history of immigration to the United States is discussed, most people immediately think of Ellis Island in New York OR San Francisco as the only gateways to the country.  However Galveston, Texas played an important role to immigration as well.  The Gregg County Historical Museum in Longview, Texas currently has an exhibit called:  “Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America through Galveston Island” on display until June 17th.

The Gregg County Historical Museum is planning an old-time shotgun wedding at its Dalton Days event slated for April 14.
