Sebastian Weigle returns to the Met to conduct his second Saturday broadcast with the company, Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, starring Adrianne Pieczonka as Leonore and Klaus Florian Vogt as Florestan. Fidelio, which was last seen at the Met in 2006, tells the story of Leonore, who disguises herself as a young man named Fidelio in order to free her husband Florestan, a political prisoner.

Airs Saturday, May 17 at 12 noon. Featuring Anthony Clark Evans as Montano, Antonio Poli as Cassio, and Johan Botha as Otello, with Falk Struckmann as Iago, John Irvin as Roderigo, Ana María Martínez as Desdemona, Julie Anne Miller as Emilia, Richard Ollarsaba as A Herald and Evan Boyer as Lodovico.
