Eugene Onegin

This week The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin starring Mariusz Kwiecień as Eugene Onegin; Ana María Martínez as Tatyana; Charles Castronovo as Lensky; Alisa Kolosova as Olga; Katharine Goeldner as Mme. Larina; and Jill Grove as Filipyevna. Robert Carsen directs, Michael Black is the Chorus Master, and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus are under the direction of Alejo Pérez.

Airs Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 12 noon. Anna Netrebko returns to the Met in her acclaimed interpretation of the heroine Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s romantic tragedy Eugene Onegin, opposite Peter Mattei in the title role, which he has also sung with the company to great praise. Robin Ticciati conducts the performance of Deborah Warner’s production, which also features Alexey Dolgov as Onegin’s friend Lenski, Elena Maximova as Tatiana’s sister Olga, and Štefan Kocán as Prince Gremin.

Airs Saturday, January 18 at 12 noon. The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.  Valery Gergiev conducts the performance, which features soprano Anna Netrebko as the naive heroine Tatiana, baritone Mariusz Kwiecien as the aristocratic title character, and tenor Piotr Beczala as the poet Lenski. Mezzo-soprano Oksana Volkova sings the role of Tatiana’s sister, Olga, and Alexei Tanovitski sings Prince Gremin. This cast opened the Met season with this new production last fall. Eugene Onegin will be heard over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
