The Lyric Opera of Chicago return again for another season with an opening performance of Das Rheingold by Richard Wagner, Eric Owens will take the role of Wotan with Samuel Youn as Alberich; Štefan Margita as Loge; Tanja Ariane Baumgartner as Fricka; Wilhelm Schwinghammer as Fasolt; Tobias Kehrer as Fafner; and Okka von der Damerau as Erda. The stage director is David Pountney and Sir Andrew Davis conducts the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus in Das Rheingold.

Airs Saturday, February 25, at 12 noon. The 2016-17 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Kristine Opolais starring in her first Met broadcast of her breakthrough role, the title character in Dvořák’s Rusalka. The dark love story about a water nymph and a human man, derived in large part from Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” will also star Jamie Barton in her network role debut as the witch Ježibaba, with Katarina Dalayman as the Foreign Princess, Brandon Jovanovich as the Prince, and Eric Owens as Rusalka’s father, the Water Gnome.

Airs Saturday, July 9, at 12 noon. In our final season performance from the Lyric Opera of Chicago we'll hear Antonin Dvorák's Rusalka staring Ana María Martínez in the title role and Brandon Jovanovich as the Prince, with Jill Grove as Jezibaba, Eric Owens as Vodnik, and Ekaterina Gubanova as Foreign Princess. Sir David McVicar directs, Michael Black is our chorus master and Sir Andrew Davis leads the Lyric OperaOrchestr and Chorus in this performance.

This week we take you to the Glimmerglass Festival for performance of Verdi's Macbeth starring Eric Owens in the title role and Melody Moore as Lady Macbeth, with Michael Brandenburg in the role of Macduff, Marco D. Cammarota as Malcolm, and Soloman Howard as Banquo. This production also features Nathan Milholin as the Servant, Mithra Mastropierro as the Lady-in-waiting, Derrell Acon as Assassin, Hunter Enoch as Herald, Nathan Milholin as the Doctor, and Rhys Lloyd Talbot, Vanessa Becerra, and Jasmine Habersham as Apparitions.

Airs Saturday, July 4, at 12 noon. On this week's broadcast from the Lyric Opera of Chicago we present George Gershwin’s classic Porgy & Bess featuring Eric Owens as Porgy and Adina Aaron as Bess with Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi as Clara; Chase Taylor as Mingo; Jermaine Smith as Sportin’ Life; Norman Garrett as Jake; Karen Slack as Serena; Bernard Holcomb as Robbins; Earl Hazell as Jim; Curtis Bannister as Peter; Veronica Chapman-Smith as Lily; and Gwendolyn Brown as Maria. Ward Stare will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus and Michael Black is our chorus master. Suzanne Nance will host.
