And, accents can be endearing but southern and African American students often pay a price in the classroom for their dialects.

Airs Sunday, February 9 at 6 p.m.  In 1973, Elvis Presley had every right to be excited for the future.  He had signed a new recording contract, formed his own publishing company and finally controlled his business.  With a pile of new songs, Elvis decided to record at the legendary Stax Studios in Memphis – home to some of the brightest soul artists of the time. In this one-hour radio special, you’ll hear highlights from those sessions and talk with the people who were in the room.
