Aleksandrs Antonenko stars in the title role, one he has performed around the world to wide acclaim. He appears opposite Hibla Gerzmava, who makes her Met role debut this spring as Otello’s innocent wife Desdemona. Željko Lučić sings the part of the evil Iago, Alexey Dolgov is his pawn Cassio, and James Morris is the Venetian ambassador Lodovico. Adam Fischer conducts.

Airs Saturday, December 12, at 12 noon. The 2015-16 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a broadcast of Verdi’s timeless tragedy Rigoletto. The acclaimed young American soprano Nadine Sierra makes her Met broadcast debut as Rigoletto’s innocent daughter Gilda. Željko Lučić is Rigoletto, who tries to shelter her from the evils of his world; and Piotr Beczala is the licentious Duke.

Airs Saturday, February 7 at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Verdi’s Macbeth, heard in an archived performance from October 11, 2014. The broadcast, taped live in the fall, features soprano Anna Netrebko, who was making her first Met appearances as the ruthless Lady Macbeth, opposite baritone Željko Lučić in the title role, bass René Pape as Banquo, and tenor Joseph Calleja as Macduff. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi led the performance. Macbeth will be heard over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 7.

The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Giordano’s Andrea Chénier.  Gianandrea Noseda conducts the verismo tragedy, which stars tenor Marcelo Álvarez in the title role of the real-life poet executed during the Reign of Terror; soprano Patricia Racette as his love, the aristocrat Maddalena; and baritone Željko Lučić as Carlo Gérard, the former servant turned revolutionary.  Andrea Chénier will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
