Metropolitan Opera: Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro

Airs Saturday, December 20 at 12 noon. The 2014-15 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Mozart’s comic masterpiece Le Nozze di Figaro. Erwin Schrott sings the title role of the resourceful valet who must outwit his master before he can marry; Danielle de Niese is his clever fiancee, Susanna; and Mariusz Kwiecien is the lecherous Count Almaviva. The performance features two major network broadcast debuts: American soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen, a 2010 winner of the Met National Council Auditions and First Prize winner at this year’s Operalia competition, as Countess Almaviva; and Italian mezzo-soprano Serena Malfi as the pageboy Cherubino. Edo de Waart conducts the opera, presented in the new production by Richard Eyre which opened the Met season in the fall. Le Nozze di Figaro will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, December 20.

Airs Saturday, April 26 at 12 noon. The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Mozart’s comic opera Così fan tutte, conducted by Met Music Director James Levine. It features an ensemble cast: Susanna Phillips as Fiordiligi, Isabel Leonard as her sister Dorabella, Danielle de Niese as their feisty maid, Despina, Matthew Polenzani as Ferrando, Rodion Pogossov as Guglielmo, and Maurizio Muraro as the cynical Don Alfonso. Così fan tutte will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.

Metropolitan Opera: The Enchanted Island

Airs Saturday, March 8 at 12 noon. The 2013-14 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of the Baroque pastiche The Enchanted Island. New cast members Susan Graham (Sycorax) and Andriana Chuchman (Miranda) join many of the principal singers who appeared in the work’s world premiere at the Met two seasons ago: David Daniels as Prospero, Plácido Domingo as Neptune, Danielle de Niese as Ariel, Luca Pisaroni as Caliban, and Anthony Roth Costanzo as Ferdinand. The Enchanted Island will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
