Passover Dreams

Airs Sunday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. Fasten your seat belts and pass the chicken soup! Passover Dreams takes us from the Seder table to the edge of the universe. Audio magician Jim Metzner conjures up Albert Einstein, Frederick Douglass, Lenny Bruce and host of other Seder guests to plumb the depths of one of the world's oldest holidays in this Gabriel Award-winning program. The Layers of Passover's “Meaning Questions” are the tools that the Passover celebration offers as it urges us to dig deeper into our lives. Why is this night different from all other nights? What do we mean when we talk about the Promised Land? Peel away one layer and relive the flight with Moses from Egypt. Peel another layer and think about what that means for African Americans. Metropolitan Opera: Massenet’s Manon

Airs Saturday, April 7 at 12:00 noon.  The 2011-12 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Massenet’s Manon. Anna Netrebko sings her first Met performances of the title role, with Piotr Beczala in his role debut as Manon’s lover, the Chevalier des Grieux, and Paulo Szot as her cousin, Lescaut. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leads the performance of Laurent Pelly’s striking new production, which opened March 26.  Manon will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 7. The performance will also be transmitted worldwide as part of The Met: Live in HD series, which is now seen in more than 1,700 movie theaters in 54 countries.

Easter Celebration & Songs of Easter

Airs Sunday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m.  Join the world renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir for a Celebration with “Hail the Day That Sees Him Rise,” “Our Savior’s Love,” “Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee;” and “Since By Man Came Death” from Messiah.  On Songs of Easter we'll hear “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today;” “This Is the Christ,” “Rejoice, the Lord is King;” and “Morning Mood” from Peer Gynt.
