Christianity

Airs Tuesday, December 1, at 1 p.m. Advent is a time of quiet contemplation and waiting. It's waiting for darkness to become light and for hopes to be realized. Throughout the centuries Advent has been observed musically in sacred and secular ways. Join Lynne Warfel for an hour of the most beautiful vocal music inspired by and written for Advent.

Program:

Airs Saturday, April 4 at 9:00 p.m.  A documentary exploring why we sing music at church and what it does for individuals and communities. Church music is one of the few pure forms of human expression. Just a person, their voice, and the belief that compassion is self-fulfilling and will birth more compassion. Here in a one-hour special we explore the many kinds of church music in America. The culture and the people behind the voices. Who sings and why, and what those songs say about our country.

Airs Sunday, April 20 at 10 a.m. The English chorale tradition comes alive during this Easter special featuring the Cathedral Choir of Christ's Church Oxford with a rich selection of chorale works from across the centuries.
