The trade magazine Site Selection released its list of cities with the greatest business expansion. Shreveport-Bossier tied for ninth in Tier 2 metro areas, with 23 new or expanded companies.

Developers of a new $197 million Bossier City riverfront casino say there is plenty of profit margin for a sixth casino in Shreveport-Bossier. Construction officially began Wednesday on the Margaritaville Resort Casino.

Louisiana Rehabilitation Services is using state and federal funding to provide personalized employment training to people with disabilities through the state's Second Injury Fund. Over the past six months 245 people have found jobs.

Nacogdoches pediatrician helps his people

Dr. Myo Chet, a Nacogdoches pediatrician, has Burmese artwork hanging in his office.

Dr. Myo Chet is from Myanmar, also known as Burma. He moved his practice from south Texas to be closer to about 200 Burmese refugees working at the Pilgrim's Pride plant in Nacogdoches.

USA Rice Federation

Rice farmers in the four-parish Central Louisiana region are creating an association that will give them direct representation on the state's rice board.

 

Members will meet Jan. 25 in Bunkie with the USA Rice Federation.
