American soprano Ailyn PĂ©rez and Hungarian bass GĂˇbor Bretz make their network broadcast debuts as the country girl MicaĂ«la and the toreador Escamillo, and Louis LangrĂ©e conducts. Carmen will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 7.

This week the LA Opera presents the sultry, love fueled opera Carmen by George Bizet featuring Patricia Bardon as Carmen, with Brandon Jovanovich as Don JosĂ©, Pretty Yende as MicaĂ«la, Ildebrando Dâ€™Arcangelo as Escamillo, with Valentin Anikin as Zuniga, Daniel Armstrong in the role of MoralĂ¨s, Hae Ji Chang as Frasquita, and Cassandra ZoĂ© Velasco as MercĂ©dĂ¨s. PlĂˇcido Domingo leads the LA Opera Orchestra and Chorus in this production.

Georgian mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili, who made an acclaimed Met debut as Carmen in 2010, sings her first Met Saturday matinee broadcast of her signature role. Rising Italian conductor Michele Mariotti, who also leads this seasonâ€™s new production of Verdiâ€™s Rigoletto, conducts a cast that includes Austrian tenor Nikolai Schukoff and Russian soprano Ekaterina Scherbachenko, who make their Met debuts this season as Don JosĂ© and MicaĂ«la, respectively. Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov returns to the role of Escamillo, the swaggering toreador, for the first time since the Metâ€™s 2004-05 season. Carmen will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, February 23.
