Barber

Airs Thursday, April 7, at 1 p.m. Every summer in Vermont, musicians come together to find the quiet, space and time to explore the meaning and magic of chamber music. Since 1951, the Marlboro Music Festival has been summer home to classical luminaries such as Rudolf Serkin, Pablo Casals, Richard Goode, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Murray Perahia, Jaime Laredo, and Mitsuko Uchida (its current Artistic Director), to name a few.

Airs Monday, October 20 at 11 a.m.  This week on the Pittsburgh Sympony; Manfred Honeck will lead the orchestra in Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings; Leos Janceck’s Suite from Jenufa, Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8; and pianist Yulianna Avdeeva will be the guest soloist for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21. Jim Cunningham will be your host.

Commentator Gary Borders addresses an issue you can’t see on the radio. You’ll just have to take his word on the fact that he needs a haircut, which is entirely off-putting to an extrovert.
