Wiley College debaters remake history

Wiley College will host University of Southern California in an exhibition debate, 77 years after the two teams sparred in a segregated America with Wiley pulling out a victory. 

The debate is Jan. 27, at 7 p.m., at Wiley's Julius S. Scott Sr. Chapel.

City of Lufkin saves downtown landmark

Lufkin's deputy city manager says the Pines Theater renovation will be completed near the end of the year, at a cost of $1.7 million. The city purchased the 1920s-era building in 2007.
