LPB premieres bicentennial documentary on TV

Louisiana Public Broadcasting presents the television debut of its one-hour documentary, "Louisiana: 200 Years of Statehood." The Bicentennial Commission also developed a companion teacher's guide. The documentary has been screened at bicentennial celebrations around the state since April. It airs tonight at 7 p.m. on LPB.

El Dorado remembers bloody family feud on courthouse steps

The Showdown at Sunset is a summer tradition in downtown El Dorado. It recalls the bitter rivalry between the Tucker and Parnell families in 1902, now a family-oriented historical event. Actors in period costume and pyrotechnics take over the Union County Courthouse square Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
