Our opera season continues this summer with a new season from the Lyric Opera of Chicago, opening the broadcast season with Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice, starring Dmitry Korchak as Orphée and Andriana Chuchman as Eurydice, with Lauren Snouffer as Amour. This production is conducted by Harry Bicket who leads the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus. John Neumeier is the stage director and Michael Black is the chorus master.

Airs Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 12 noon. The 2017-18 Metropolitan Opera broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow. Susan Graham stars in her acclaimed interpretation of the title role as the wealthy widow Hanna Glawari, opposite Paul Groves as her commitment-phobic former lover, Danilo. Sir Thomas Allen sings the role of Baron Zeta, determined to play matchmaker while unaware that he is in danger of losing his own wife, Valencienne, to the dashing Camille de Rosillon, sung respectively by Andriana Chuchman and Taylor Stayton. Ward Stare conducts in his network broadcast debut. The Met’s production is by Tony Award-winning choreographer and director Susan Stroman. The Merry Widow will be heard live over Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 12:00 noon. CT on Saturday, December 30.

Airs Saturday, July 14, 2017, at 12 noon. This week The Lyric Opera of Chicago presents Mozart's Don Giovanni starring Mariusz Kwiecień as Don Giovanni, with Kyle Ketelsen as Leporello; Marina Rebeka as Donna Anna; Ana María Martínez as Donna Elvira; Antonio Poli as Don Ottavio; Andriana Chuchman as Zerlina; and Michael Sumuel as Masetto. Robert Falls directs, Michael Black is our chorus master and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus are undr the direction of Sir Andrew Davis.

This week we return once again to the LA Opera on the Air for a series of five performances opening up their season with a double bill featuring Puccini's Gianni Schicchi & Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. In the Puccini we'll hear Plácido Domingo as Gianni Schicchi and Arturo Chacon Cruz as Rinuccio, with Andriana Chuchman as Lauretta, Meredith Arwady as Zita, Greg Fedderly in the role of Gherardo, and Stacey Tappan as Nella.
