A new exhibit at the Alexandria Museum of Art features three artists who have Louisiana roots and have distinguished themselves on a national level. The exhibit, “Trio: Beyond Boundaries,” celebrates the success of three African American artists: Malaika Favorite, Phoenix Savage and Alexandria native Cullen Washington Jr.
Museum executive director Catherine Pears says the museum keeps an eye on Louisiana artists who are making their mark in the art world.
Saturday, October 5, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Red River Radio will host a "Getting to Know You" event in Alexandria, La., at the Alexandria Museum of Art from 12-6 p.m.on October 5, 2013. On Thursday, July 18 the Red River Radio recording crew traveled to the Alexandria Museum of Arts to record Buddy Flett and Josh Hyde at the acoustic concert series at the museum. John Wakefield was the MC and also opened the concert and was joined on stage by John Jordan on harmonica. Bill Beckett & Daniel Gordy from Red River Radio captured the show for future broadcast. A great audience turned out for the show and the Alexandria Museum of Art had refreshments for all.
