Savannah Music Festival: Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain - Part One

Airs Thursday, September 19 at 8 p.m. Bassist Edgar Meyer and banjoist Bela Fleck had collaborated for nearly thirty years, but in 2008 when they formed a trio with tabla master Zakir Hussain, they created a small group in which each member offered up original compositions based upon their virtuosity and shared musical ideas. Tune in for part two of a 2011 Savannah Music Festival concert featuring Fleck, Meyer and Hussain live at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts.

The San Francisco Symphony

Airs Monday, September 16 at 11 a.m. On the next concert by the San Francisco Symphony conductor Alan Gilbert will be joined on stage by violinist Renaud Capucon for the Violin concerto, L'Arbre des songes by Henri Dutilleux. The concert opens with Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93 and concluded with the Symphony No. 99 in E-flat Major by Haydn and we'll also hear the Serenade No. 2 in A Major, Op. 16 by Brahms.
