Metropolitan Opera Radio - Donizetti’s Anna Bolena

Airs Saturday, February 4 at 12:00 noon.  The 2011-2012 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, starring Anna Netrebko in the tour-de-force title role of Henry VIII’s ill-fated second wife, Anne Boleyn. Marco Armiliato conducts the opera, a thrilling dramatization of Boleyn’s final days, which had its Met premiere on opening night of this season in a production by David McVicar.

Savannah Music Festival - Mariza Live

Mariza

Airs Thursday, February 2 at 8:00 p.m.  Afro-Portuguese fado sensation Mariza put on what many are calling the "concert of the year" at the Savannah Music Festival. Tune in for a program featuring her Georgia debut. Fado, which translated means "destiny" or "fate," is a musical genre that can be traced from the 1820s in Portugal, but probably with much earlier origins. In popular belief, fado is a form of music characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics.

Airs Tuesday, January 31 at 9:00 p.m.  In New Orleans, jazz is a building block, a musical foundation. Troy Andrews, aka Trombone Shorty, fully embraces the future-funk and grimy rock back beats which bring crowds to their feet. But at his core, he's also a phenomenal jazz trombonist and singer from the Tremé neighborhood. Stardom awaits with the upcoming release of For True. Here, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue preview their headlining Newport Jazz Festival set with this more intimate Quad Stage show.
