Airs Monday, April 15 at 11 a.m. This week Juraj Valcuha takes the podium to lead the orchestra in Maurice Ravel’s Suite from Mother Goose and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances; The Steven Stucky’s Spirit Voices will feature Evelyn Glennie as percussionist.

Airs Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. The 2012-13 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a live broadcast of Die Walküre, the second of the four operas in Wagner’s epic Der Ring des Nibelungen. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leads the performance, part of the first of three Ring cycles that will be heard at the Met this season in honor of the composer’s bicentennial. Deborah Voigt returns in the title role of the warrior maiden Brünnhilde, in a cast that also includes Mark Delavan in his company role debut as her father Wotan, ruler of the gods; Stephanie Blythe as his formidable wife Fricka, the goddess of marriage; Martina Serafin in her Met debut as Sieglinde and Simon O’Neill as her twin, Siegmund; and Hans-Peter König as Sieglinde’s brutal husband, Hunding. Die Walküre will be heard live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, April 13.

Savannah Music Festival: Bill Charlap Trio with Houston Person - Part two

Airs Thursday, April 11 at 8 p.m. There have been many outstanding piano trios throughout the history of jazz, each with its own signature sound. There is the majestic swing of the Oscar Peterson Trio, the classy bop of the Hank Jones Trio, the great independence of the Bill Evans Trio, and the powerful virtuosity of Bud Powell's trios. Each great jazz piano trio brought something slightly different into the fold, combining swing, group interaction, and musical dynamics in unique ways. In this episode, we listen to one of the finest contemporary jazz piano trios, the Bill Charlap Trio, in concert at the 2011 Savannah Music Festival with special guest Houston Person.
