Airs Monday, April 14 at 11 a.m.  This week on the Pittsburgh Symphony, music director Manfred Honeck will be joined by violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley for a performance of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and then soprano Sari Gruber, mezzo-soprano Gerhild Romberger, tenor Paul Appleby and bass John Relyea will join the Orchestra along with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and narrator F. Murry Abraham for different performance of Mozart's great Requiem.

Airs Monday, April 7 at 11 a.m. On the next concert from the Pittsburgh Symphony maestro Leonard Slatkin will be joined on stage by pianist Olga Kern for a performance of the Piano Concerto No. 3 by Sergei Rachmaninoff plus several encores by Moszkowski and Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert opens with Scott Eyerly’s “Arlington Sons" and we'll also hear William Schumann’s Symphony No. 3.

Airs Monday, March 31 at 11 a.m. This week on the Pittsburgh Symphony baritone Thomas Hampson will join maestro Manfred Honeck for the Orchestral Songs for Baritone and Orchestra by Richard Strauss. Also joining maetsro Honeck will be french horn soloist William Cabellero who will be featured in the Horn Concerto No. 1 also by Richard Strauss. The concert will open with  John Stafford Smith’s arrangement of the “The Star Spangled Banner" and the concert will conclude with Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World."

Airs Monday, March 24 at 11 a.m. Join us for a new season of concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra each Monday morning at 11 a.m. The open concert for the season features conductor Manfred Honeck who will be joined by pianist Lang Lang for the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Franz Listz as well as Chopin’s Etude No. 5, Op. 10. The concert will also showcase Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to “Forza del Destino;”  Felix Mendelssohn’s Scherzo from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream;”  Richard Wagner’s Overture to “Tannhauser;” Igor Stravinksy’s Danse Infernale from “The Firebird;” and Lu Wencheng’s “Autumn Moon on a Calm Lake.” Join us for a new season of concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony each Monday morning at 11 a.m. on Red River Radio.
